Traditionally, building automation systems have been entirely separate from industrial automation solutions. Most professional SCADA software products are too complex and expensive to use in factories, or for monitoring and data logging applications. On the other hand, simpler automation solutions aren’t seen with confidence from automation professionals, generally lacking in reliability, scalability, and features.

While we think that on the hardware side there are distinct requirements for residential, industrial, data logging and monitoring applications, and buildings, enough to justify the existence of different product lines, we strongly believe that software technology has advanced to a level where it makes no longer sense to have different supervision architectures.

We have always developed HSYCO and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future so that it is powerful and flexible enough to fulfil the needs of diverse environments. By doing this, we are not only leveraging the so-called economies of scale, but also bringing to smaller or vertical installations the robustness and sophistication that are typical of larger automation solutions, while transferring to buildings and production plants lower costs and higher usability.

Reliability and Scalability

While it is easy to create a product that is simple and inexpensive by compromising on its ability to fit to large-scale projects, our design strategy is to develop HSYCO as a smart solution that smoothly scales from the needs of a small installation to the ones of large buildings and to those of distributed, multi-layer, supervision architectures.

Open Development Environment

We want HSYCO to be cost-effective by design, so that it can run on relatively inexpensive hardware and, even more important, be easy to maintain and expand. For this reason, we are heavily investing in the development of web-based configuration tools. We believe that every man-hour saved during the installation and configuration process, or during maintenance, turn into a competitive advantage for both the contractor and customer.

We designed HSYCO as an open environment for developers, providing a powerful application programming interface that is based on the standard and widely known Java language. HSYCO is a software development framework that can be deeply customized to respond to all specific requirements of the most complex installation, and at the same time be easy to maintain over the typical long life cycle of any building or industrial infrastructure.

HSYCO offers a complete suite of revolutionary web-based development tools, the HSYCO Manager. Thanks to the Manager, the HSYCO control pages can be created and updated, and installations diagnostics can be run simply, quickly, and securely from any trusted pc or wireless device, both locally and remotely.

Security at the highest level

A secure remote control capability is one of the most important features of a modern automation system. The HSYCO remote user interface is the same as the one used locally, with the same graphics and same features, and with no restrictions or limitations other than the ones configured for security or safety reasons.

The remote performance is very close to the local connection. The HSYCO server is accessed directly through the Internet, with no third-party portal involved. HSYCO implements the most sophisticated solutions to ensure protection against unauthorized access or any other security threat. The use of SSL cryptography guarantees the integrity and the confidentiality of the low-level communication between the server and the web browser running the user interface when the system is accessed remotely.

At a lower level, HSYCO relies on particularly long access keys to transfer information and authorize each peripheral device.

The authentication of both the user and the device is based on two user codes, called PIN and PUK.
